چکیده

We show that if SAT does not have small circuits, then there must exist a small number of satisfiable formulas such that every small circuit fails to compute satisfiability correctly on at least one of these formulas. We use this result to show that if PNP[1] = PNP[2], then the polynomial-time hierarchy collapses to Sp2 ⊆ Σp2∩Πp2. Even showing that the hierarchy collapsed to Σp2 remained open prior to this paper.

Proving SAT does not have Small Circuits with an Application to the Two Queries Problem

We show that if SAT does not have small circuits, then there must exist a small number of formulas such that every small circuit fails to compute satisfiability correctly on at least one of these formulas. We use this result to show that ifPNP[1℄ = PNP[2℄, then the polynomial-time hierarchy collapses to Sp2 p2 \ p2. Even showing that the hierarchy collapsed to p2 remained open prior to this paper.

Test Power Reduction by Simultaneous Don’t Care Filling and Ordering of Test Patterns Considering Pattern Dependency

Estimating and minimizing the maximum power dissipation during testing is an important task in VLSI circuit realization since the power value affects the reliability of the circuits. Therefore during testing a methodology should be adopted to minimize power consumption. Test patterns generated with –D 1 option of ATALANTA contains don’t care bits (x bits). By suitable filling of don’t cares can...

Efficient Analysis of Plasmonic circuits using Differential Global Surface Impedance (DGSI) Model

Differential global surface impedance (DGSI) model, a rigorous approach, has been applied to the analysis of three dimensional plasmonic circuits. This model gives a global relation between the tangential electric field and the equivalent surface electric current on the boundary of an object. This approach helps one bring the unknowns to the boundary surface of an object and so avoid volumetric...

Non-Uniform Hardness for NP via Black-Box Adversaries

We may believe SAT does not have small Boolean circuits. But is it possible that some language with small circuits looks indistiguishable from SAT to every polynomial-time bounded adversary? We rule out this possibility. More precisely, assuming SAT does not have small circuits, we show that for every language with small circuits, there exists a probabilistic polynomial-time algorithm that make...

Uniform Circuits, Lower Bounds, and QBF Algorithms

We explore the relationships between circuit complexity, the complexity of generating circuits, and circuit-analysis algorithms. Our results can be roughly divided into three parts: • Lower Bounds Against Medium-Uniform Circuits. Informally, a circuit class is “medium uniform” if it can be generated by an algorithmic process that is somewhat complex but not infeasible. We prove several uncondit...
